Switch in the summer to save in the winter

Which? recently reported that all main energy suppliers had cut their prices in recent months.

Though prices have been reduced, the reductions are reported not to be comparable to price increases which were in place last summer. Among the reasons for not switching were that people thought they wouldn’t be any better off.

Alison Morrison, Which? Switch, says: "Now that all of the major energy companies have cut their prices, this could be a great opportunity to switch suppliers or tariffs.  It seems strange to think about your heating bills in summer, but this is a decision that could benefit customers all year round."

Homeowners who have been considering their energy consumption, and who are thinking of implementing some energy saving measures, could finance these with a secured loan for home improvements. A secured loan is one of many options to fund home improvements and can be used to add solar panels to heat hot water. Other home improvements which can be funded with a secured loan include replacing old draughty doors and windows with brand new UPVC replacements potentially helping to maintain heat within the home.
