Protect things in your garden this summer

Category: Secured Loans

With the summer months upon us, many people will be spending an increasing amount of time out in the garden.

Therefore, Cheshire Building Society is prompting people to check that their belongings are adequately insured just in case they are damaged or stolen.

"Many homeowners regularly leave items out in the garden overnight and garden theft increased considerably in the summer moths last year, so it's important to review your insurance policy to make sure you've got adequate cover,” said Karen Torson, product manager at Cheshire Building Society. “Many people automatically assume they're covered when they take a policy out, but this isn't always the case and it can leave people feeling hugely let down by their insurance providers if their claim is not met in full or, worse still, declined.

"It's always great to enjoy the sunshine", said Karen, "but it's better when you have peace of mind that if your plants or furniture in the garden should get damaged or go missing, they can be replaced."

Homeowners that are not satisfied with the level of security in and around their property could consider taking out a secured loan to fund improvements to increase security.  For example, higher perimeter fences could be put up to deter opportunistic thieves.  In addition, borrowers may wish to replace weak gates, doors and windows with stronger, modern counterparts.  With a secured loan for home improvements, alarms and closed circuit television could also be invested in for added security.  A secured loan for home improvements could pave the way to that all-important peace of mind.
