Consolidation
The third Monday in January marks blue Monday.
According to the AA this is the most depressing day of the year and was first defined by Cliff Arnall, formerly of Cardiff University. He combed the weather, the time since Christmas, the time since we’d failed new year’s resolutions, the time credit card bills arrive and the wait until payday, to calculate this as the worst day of the year.
All that combined with the fact that the roads are at their worst too – we’re facing all extremes this month, snow, rain, ice, sleet and fog meaning our vehicles are more likely to require attention. It’s not all doom and gloom though, as there are some reasons to be cheerful according to the AA. Firstly, we should see petrol costing us a whole £8.74 less per tank compared to this time last year.
Edmund King, the AA’s president commented "This time of year can be gloomy and depressing, but at least this Monday is a little less blue than it was last year if you are filling up your tank. The AA suggests drivers use some of their fuel savings to cheer themselves up perhaps by giving to charity.”
Those looking to purchase a new car might find a good deal on a new car, some showrooms have even been reported as offering buy one get one free! New drivers can benefit from Drive Smart training, some 2,000 free places are on offer from the AA Charitable Trust.

Homeowners receiving their post Christmas credit card bills this week, may wish to consider their options for debt
consolidation. A secured debt consolidation loan is one of many options which can be used to refinance existing debt. Existing credit cards, store cards and other personal loans may be wrapped into one. Homeowners who opt for a secured debt consolidation loan will no longer need to worry about what needs to be paid and when as repayments will be scheduled for the exact date and amount each month. It should be remembered however that consolidating your debt may increase the amount you pay back overall and extend the repayment periods of your debts.
