Consolidation
At a time when many people are looking to make savings by holidaying in the UK, new research from Tesco Travel Money has revealed that it ‘would be wise to look further afield’ for that bargain break. The cheapest deals can reportedly be found in Eastern European countries such as Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary.
For example, the research has shown that a typical family of four would be looking at expenses of £1,221 for a week in Bulgaria, compared to £2,209 for a week in Brighton. It has been noted that Bulgaria’s costs have fallen by 22 percent since last year, which has made it ‘the most affordable option this summertime’. The expenses covered by the research included accommodation, car hire, eating out and family entertainment.
In contrast, a typical family of four would reportedly be looking at £3,383 for a week in Iceland. It has also been revealed that even holidays in ‘struggling destinations’ would cost more than the UK, with Spain at £2,375 and Greece at £2,054. A 6 percent increase in overall costs has been recorded since last year, which is why Tesco advises researching destinations.

Homeowners who are finding their finances too tight to even think about going on holiday could consider taking out a secured loan to lower their monthly outgoings. For example, one of many finance options available, a secured loan for debt
consolidation could allow borrowers to tie up any existing debts that may be proving expensive. By consolidating monthly commitments, borrowers could be left with just one monthly repayment that could even be lower than the sum of current outgoings. Any extra money left over each month could then potentially be set aside in a savings account to fulfil future holiday plans. However, if opting for a secured loan to consolidate debt, it should be remembered that consolidating your debt may increase the amount you pay back overall and extend the repayment periods of your debts.
