Nemo Personal Finance raises over £6,500 for JDRF
Cardiff based Nemo Personal Finance has raised over £6,500 for the type 1 diabetes charity JDRF , after appointing it as their charity of the year in 2011.
JDRF is the world’s leading type 1 diabetes research charity, funding research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes and its complications.
Taking an innovative new approach to its charity fundraising activity, the team at Nemo Personal Finance smashed previous company fundraising records, beating its previous best by £2,500.
At the start of the year, employees were split into fundraising teams and targets were set for each team. The prospect of winning the Nemo Personal Finance 2011 charity fundraising championship, and raising funds for such a worthy cause, inspired a plethora of activity and propelled the teams into action.
Throughout the course of the year, various fundraising activities took place, including a balloon race, raffles, a sunflower growing competition, cake sales, an Easter extravaganza, a Wimbledon day, quiz nights and a clothes swap.
Nemo’s Customer Service team took the overall fundraising crown, beating their team target by almost 110% and raising over £1,000 for JDRF from various activities their team organised.
Jon Medcraft, Challenge Events Fundraiser at JDRF said: “JDRF is delighted to have been Nemo Personal Finance’s Charity of the year in 2011. A big thank you to all staff who got involved with fundraising. All money raised will support vital research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes.”
Ian Praed, Operations Director at Nemo Personal Finance commented “2011 saw a brand new approach to charity fundraising at Nemo, which saw a bit of team rivalry spur the teams on to devise innovative ways to raise money for JDRF. This has proven to be a great success. We’re very proud of everyone’s effort and generosity during 2011, especially the contribution it will make to help finding the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications.”
